Tehran: National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji and his accompanying delegation held a meeting in Tehran today with the Secretary-General of the Iranian National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian. The meeting reviewed, according to a statement by the Chencellry, the axes of the joint security agreement between the two countries and the details of implementing the agreement, in addition to discussing ways to enhance security and political cooperation between Baghdad and Tehran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting also stressed the necessity of cooperation with the countries of the region in the field of security coordination, which leads to establishing security stability at the level of the countries of the region. The two sides agreed on the principles specified in the joint security agreement and implementing its remaining paragraphs.

The Iranian side appreciated the role of the Iraqi government, represented by Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, as well as the role of the Kurdista
n Regional Government, in supporting the implementation of the agreement and adhering to its terms agreed upon by the Iraqi and Iranian sides. The Iranian side praised the efforts of the Iraqi Supreme Committee tasked with implementing the security agreement between the two countries, headed by National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji, expressing its aspiration to benefit from the experience of working with the Iraqi side in the field of border security, as it is a successful experience that has yielded important results in a short period.

The meeting reviewed developments in the Middle East, and the attendees stressed the need for an international awakening to stop the escalation in the region, to spare the countries of the region and the world the expansion of this conflict.
