Baghdad: President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid emphasized on Sunday the importance of strengthening relations between Iraq and Italy in political, economic, technological, and cultural fields. A presidential statement said that the president received Italian Ambassador Nicolo Fontana at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, where they discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation on various levels.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the statement added that Ambassador Fontana expressed his appreciation to the president, highlighting Italy's commitment to opening new avenues for bilateral cooperation in the interest of both friendly countries. The meeting also addressed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
