Amman: Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Haybat al-Halbousi, and President of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal al-Fayez, engaged in discussions on Monday focusing on bolstering Jordanian-Iraqi relations and cooperation, particularly in the realms of economic and parliamentary affairs.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the discussions took place at the Jordanian Senate headquarters, where both leaders addressed methods to enhance bilateral ties. The dialogue placed a strong emphasis on economic collaboration and parliamentary synergy between the two nations.

Al-Halbousi highlighted the profound nature of Iraqi-Jordanian relations, pointing to the importance of advancing the Basra-Aqaba pipeline project. He underscored the need for diversifying oil export channels and taking advantage of Jordan's surplus electricity to benefit both countries.

Faisal al-Fayez, the Speaker of the Jordanian Senate, reiterated the robustness of the historical relations between Jordan and Iraq. He expressed Jordan's eagerness to further develop these ties, advocating for the activation of existing bilateral agreements, boosting joint investments, and executing strategic projects like the oil pipeline and electricity grid interconnection.

The discussions also conveyed support for the Palestinian cause and stressed the necessity of enhancing Arab coordination and cooperation to tackle existing regional challenges.
