Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Tuesday the signing of several memoranda of understanding with its Libyan counterpart, including the resolution of the issue of Iraqi properties in Tripoli and other matters.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the third session of the Iraqi-Libyan Joint Committee concluded in Baghdad, chaired by Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Construction, Housing, and Municipalities, Fuad Hussein, representing Iraq, and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher Baour, representing Libya. The committee’s work resulted in the signing of several memoranda of understanding between the two sides, which include resolving the issue of Iraqi properties in Tripoli, enhancing economic cooperation, and collaboration in the fields of youth and sports.

In the statement, Hussein emphasized the strong ties and commonalities between the two countries, reiterating Iraq’s commitment to Libya’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. He also expressed Iraq’s rejection of foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs and called for dialogue as a means to address outstanding issues.

The Libyan Foreign Minister highlighted the historical and fraternal connections between Iraq and Libya, emphasizing the significance of the joint committee’s work in activating cooperation frameworks and strengthening bilateral relations. The aim is to achieve positive and tangible results across various fields.
