Baghdad: Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani and Omani Deputy Prime Minister Shihab bin Tariq Al Said presided over the signing ceremony of two agreements and 24 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) between Iraq and Oman across several vital sectors.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the two agreements include: a mutual visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic, special, and service passports, and an agreement to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion on income and capital.

The statement indicated that the MoUs cover a wide range of fields, including the judicial and legal sector, tourism, historical documentation and archival management, youth and sports cooperation, housing and urban planning, higher education and scientific research, as well as general education and schooling.

Other MoUs encompass areas such as information exchange and cooperation in the capital market, telecommunications, administrative training and leadership development, radio and television media, banking supervision and financial stability, energy, trade development and export growth, intellectual property, and promoting competition and combating monopolies.

Additionally, the memoranda cover industry, localization of defense industries, ports and logistics between the Iraqi Ports Authority and Omani Asyad Group, crude oil marketing and storage, the stock exchange, cooperation between the Iraqi Chambers of Commerce Federation and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the establishment of a smart city in Karbala Governorate.
