Baghdad: Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi affirmed the Iraqi government's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in a way that serves the common interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples, and contributes to supporting regional security and stability.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Zaidi's media office revealed that the Prime Minister received the head of the General Intelligence Directorate of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Khalid bin Ali al-Humaidan, along with his delegation. During the meeting, al-Humaidan conveyed a message from the Kingdom's leadership, which included a renewed invitation for the Prime Minister to visit Riyadh. This discussion also focused on enhancing coordination and joint cooperation in response to security developments in the region.

Prime Minister al-Zaidi reiterated the Iraqi government's firm stance on protecting Iraq's sovereignty and the interests of its people. He emphasized that Iraq would not allow its territory to be used for actions or activities that could harm other countries, in line with constitutional responsibilities and a commitment to good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty of brotherly and friendly nations.

Both sides agreed on the importance of continuing security coordination and information exchange between relevant authorities. This cooperation aims to enhance the ability to address security challenges, contribute to taking appropriate measures within legal frameworks, serve the security of both countries, strengthen mutual trust, and help spare the region the risks of escalation.
