Baghdad: Iraq’s Minister of Finance, Taif Sami Mohammed, held talks with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Baghdad on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in the financial and economic sectors in a manner that serves mutual interests.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting held at the Ministry of Finance headquarters, both sides reviewed the existing strategic partnership between Iraq and South Korea and stressed the importance of enhancing knowledge exchange, particularly in the automation of banking and financial systems.
Sami affirmed that the Iraqi government places great importance on creating an attractive investment environment for reputable international companies, noting that South Korean firms possess extensive expertise that positions them as key partners in implementing development, reconstruction, and major infrastructure projects.
She further explained that the Ministry of Finance continues to implement a package of financial reforms aimed at strengthening economic stability and improving the efficiency of public financial management in line with modern international standards.
For his part, the Korean ambassador expressed appreciation for the Ministry’s efforts to remove obstacles facing foreign investments, reaffirming Seoul’s commitment to deepening its ties with Iraq and supporting the government’s drive toward comprehensive economic growth by increasing trade volume and expanding the presence of Korean companies across vital sectors.
