Baghdad: Iraq and Spain stressed the importance of coordinating mutual support in international forums to serve the interests of the two friendly countries. A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Undersecretary of the Ministry for Multilateral Affairs and Legal Affairs, Shorsh Khaled Saeed, received the Spanish Ambassador to the United Nations, Alicia Rico Perez del Pulgar.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, during the meeting, the Ambassador briefed the Undersecretary on Spain’s preparations to host the Fourth United Nations Conference on Financing Sustainable Development, which is scheduled to be held next summer. This conference represents an important opportunity for the international community to discuss ways to mobilize financial resources and establish partnerships to support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The statement also noted that the two sides exchanged views on the latest developments on the Syrian coast. At the end of the meeting, they emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in the fields of multilateral diplomacy and coordinating mutual support in international forums to serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
