Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani sponsored the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between Iraq and Spain in the field of security and crime control. The agreement was formalized with the presence of Interior Ministers from both nations on Wednesday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement was signed by Iraq’s Interior Minister, Abdul Amir al-Shammari, and Spain’s Interior Minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska. This agreement is a testament to the desire of both countries to enhance their bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in security. The agreement focuses on combating terrorism, criminal offenses, drug and human trafficking, extortion, and other related crimes.

The agreement outlines the exchange of expertise and information, especially in technology and methods used in criminal investigations. It also includes the provision of technical and scientific assistance and the dispatch of specialized technical teams between Iraq and Spain. Prime Minister al-Sudani welcomed Spanish Interior Minister Marlaska, who conveyed greetings from the Spanish Prime Minister, emphasizing Spain’s eagerness for further collaboration with Iraq.

Prime Minister al-Sudani acknowledged the strengthened bilateral relations following his visit to Madrid last November, highlighting the ongoing partnership in several sectors, with emphasis on transportation.
