Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, received the Sudanese Ambassador to Iraq, Abdul Rahim Sir Al-Khatim, at his office in the Ministry headquarters on Tuesday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release that the meeting addressed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to strengthen them in various fields, serving the common interests of the two peoples. Several regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed.
The Minister praised the deep historical ties between Iraq and Sudan, affirming the Iraqi government’s commitment to developing bilateral cooperation in the political, economic, and cultural spheres.
For his part, Ambassador Abdul Rahim Sir Al-Khatim presented a report on the recent security situation in Sudan, expressing his gratitude and appreciation for Iraq’s supportive stance towards his country in facing current challenges, and commending the Iraqi government’s efforts to consolidate security and stability in the region.
