Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, met with Eng. Louay Kharita, Minister of Local Administration and Environment and Chairman of the Supreme Relief Committee in the Syrian Arab Republic, at the ministry’s headquarters.
A statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that during the meeting, Al-Hajimi presented a summary of the directives of the Prime Minister, Eng. Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, and the efforts made by the competent Iraqi authorities to deliver food, medical and therapeutic aid to the Lebanese brothers present on Syrian territory.
He also pointed out that Iraq has received and hosted more than 8,000 Lebanese, praising Syria’s role in receiving more than 90,000 Lebanese despite the difficult economic conditions it is going through.
For his part, the Minister of Local Administration and Environment expressed his appreciation for Iraq’s sincere efforts and supportive stances towards the brothers in Lebanon, after the crisis resulting
from the Zionist attacks that caused a mass exodus of Lebanese families in search of safety. The Minister also stressed that there are government plans that have been prepared to ensure the provision of necessary services to all arrivals.
