Baghdad: In the presence of Al-Zaidi, Iraq and Syria have signed a memorandum to rehabilitate the Haditha-Banias railway line. This agreement marks a pivotal step in the collaboration between the two nations to enhance regional infrastructure.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iraq and Syria have agreed to rehabilitate the Haditha-Banias crude oil pipeline, with initial operations expected to handle a capacity of two million barrels per day. The US State Department has expressed its support, acknowledging the pipeline's strategic importance for both bilateral and regional energy markets.

The US State Department commented on the memorandum, stating that the initiative is a priority infrastructure project aimed at restoring a crucial energy corridor. This corridor will link Iraqi oil production with export markets in the Mediterranean, thus expanding reach beyond the immediate region.

The involvement of an international consortium, spearheaded by the US, is anticipated to be vital in addressing the technical and financial requirements of the project. The pipeline's rehabilitation is projected to initially support the transport of two million barrels of crude oil daily.
