Ankara:Iraq and Turkey have commenced negotiations on a framework agreement for cooperation in the oil and gas sectors. Iraqi Minister of Oil, Bassem Mohammed Khudair Al-Abadi, and Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, are leading their respective delegations in these discussions.
According to Iraqi News Agency, the negotiations aim to establish a roadmap for enhancing bilateral cooperation in developing infrastructure related to the oil and gas sectors, as well as the petrochemical industry. The talks are also focused on the trade of oil, gas, and energy, alongside efforts to develop frameworks for joint work and coordination to serve the mutual interests of both nations.
The inaugural meeting marks the beginning of the dialogue on the framework agreement between Iraq and Turkey, with an emphasis on laying the foundations for joint cooperation and expanding partnership areas in the energy sectors.
The Iraqi delegation includes Deputy Minister for Extraction Affairs Naseer Aziz Jabbar and directors general from the Oil Marketing Company, North Oil Company, Oil Projects Company, and Oil Pipelines Company, in addition to officials from the Economic, Legal, Contracts, and Petroleum Licensing Departments.
