Ankara: The Commander of the Border Forces, Lieutenant General Muhammad Abdul Wahab Sakr Al-Saidi, engaged in discussions with the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, Lieutenant General Selcuk Bayraktar Oglu, focusing on the security of the shared border between Iraq and Turkey.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the dialogue was initiated following an invitation from the Turkish side and directives from the Iraqi Minister of Interior. Lieutenant General Al-Saidi’s visit to Turkey included meetings with various Turkish security leaders in Ankara, where they explored issues related to border security, information exchange, and joint coordination efforts.
The statement from the Ministry of Interior highlighted that this visit is part of a broader initiative by the Iraqi Border Forces Command. Recent measures have been implemented to bolster the Iraqi-Turkish border, incorporating modern monitoring and surveillance technologies and enhancing the number of border points to ensure better security and monitoring.
