Iraq and Turkey Discuss Regional Stability and Sovereignty


Baghdad:The Head of the Islamic Supreme Council of Iraq, Sheikh Humam Hamoudi, emphasized that Iraq’s stability is a shared regional interest during a meeting with the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Anil Bora Inan.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Sheikh Hamoudi met with the Turkish Ambassador in Baghdad, where they discussed the potential for elevating relations between Iraq and Turkey to a partnership that benefits both nations. The discussions also included the topic of withdrawing Turkish forces from Bashiqa in Nineveh Governorate to support Iraq’s project for full sovereignty, which involves removing any foreign presence.



Sheikh Hamoudi stressed the importance of completing the formation of the Iraqi government to ensure it can effectively implement its service-oriented and sovereignty-focused program.



The Turkish Ambassador congratulated the Iraqi government and people on National Sovereignty Days and Independence Day, acknowledging these achievements as significant steps toward enhancing Iraq’s sovereignty and stability. He also reiterated Turkey’s support for consolidating Iraq’s full sovereignty and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
