Iraq and Turkey Discuss Resolving Oil and Energy Issues

BAGHDAD – In a recent meeting, the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, and the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, discussed enhancing cooperation in the oil and energy sector. The meeting emphasized the importance of resolving outstanding issues between Baghdad and Ankara in this domain.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on relations between Iraq and Turkey, particularly in the areas of oil and energy. Both parties underlined the urgency of addressing and resolving all outstanding issues related to the oil and energy file. In addition, the ministers deliberated on mutual concerns, including water resources, the management of water releases, and economic and investment prospects. They reviewed the potential positive impacts of the Development Road Project on Iraq’s economy and the broader region.

Minister Hussein confirmed that the current Iraqi government has developed a comprehensive strategy to enhance key sectors in the country. He emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a safe and conducive investment environment, positioning Iraq as a promising investment destination.
