According to National Iraqi News Agency, Ambassador Saeed emphasized the deep-rooted friendship and partnership between Iraq and Turkey, highlighting the importance of enhancing dialogue and aligning viewpoints to serve the mutual interests of both nations. The discussions focused on leveraging the historical and cultural ties binding the two countries to strengthen their bilateral relations.

The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed that the Iraqi government is actively pursuing programs aimed at developing the national economy. This includes combating corruption and implementing strategic projects, such as the Development Road project, which is considered crucial for connecting East and West. The project aims to enhance the movement of goods and energy, including oil and gas, achieving shared economic benefits for both countries.

He noted that the current trade exchange volume is approximately $17 billion, with hopes of increasing it following the completion of joint strategic projects.

The two sides also discussed enhancing cooperation in combating terrorism, exchanging information, and extraditing wanted individuals to support regional security and stability. They addressed the importance of facilitating the movement of citizens between the two countries, attending to their affairs, and overcoming obstacles they face. This includes following up on actions by the Turkish government regarding the killing of Iraqi citizen Bilal Alaa Al-Allaf and ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.
