Baghdad: The Ministry of Transport, represented by the General Company for Land Transport, took part in a pivotal Iraqi-Turkish meeting aimed at enhancing trade and transport, as well as boosting commercial exchange between Iraq and Turkey. The meeting transpired at the Ministry of Trade building and included participation from an official delegation of the Turkish Ministry of Trade and several key Iraqi entities.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on reviewing the progress of implementing the outcomes from the second session of the Iraqi-Turkish Joint Trade Committee (JETCO). It also addressed major challenges facing trade exchange, including customs procedures, certificates of origin, standardization, and quality control.

Abbas Khazal, representing the General Company for Land Transport, stressed the necessity of overcoming technical and procedural hurdles to ensure the smooth movement of goods. He highlighted the need to expand cooperation in the land transport sector between the two nations.

In a strategic move to foster a new era of collaboration, the Turkish side showed willingness to host the third session of the Iraqi-Turkish Joint Committee in Istanbul. Both parties agreed to convene another meeting in September to address unresolved issues and devise suitable solutions in anticipation of the upcoming third session.
