Antalya: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the joint statement on the fifth meeting of the High-Level Security Mechanism between the Republic of Iraq and the Republic of Turkey in Antalya.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting took place on April 13, 2025, with high-level participants from both nations, including Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and various other key officials, alongside their Turkish counterparts.
The two nations underscored their commitment to respecting political unity and territorial sovereignty while agreeing to enhance coordination in military, border security, counterterrorism, defense industries, energy, water, and the Development Road Project. They also highlighted the significance of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani’s upcoming visit to Turkey on May 8, 2025, for the fourth Supreme Council for Strategic Cooperation meeting.
The meeting addressed the shared threat from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), emphasizing the need to implement Abdullah ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬€š¬…¡¬¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬€š¬¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬‚¬Å¡¬¦€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦€š¬…€œcalan’s call for the group’s disbandment and disarmament. Both sides pledged continued close cooperation against this threat.
Discussions also covered the urgent situation in al-Hawl Camp, Roj Camp, and other camps in Syria, with a proposal to form a joint committee to tackle the issue. The establishment of a Joint Operations Center for the “Five-Party Mechanism” in Syria and neighboring regions was also reaffirmed.
Additionally, the two sides expressed concern over violations against the residents of Gaza, Lebanon, and Syrian territories by the Israeli entity. The meeting concluded with a welcome for the positive outcomes from recent Iran-U.S. talks in Muscat, anticipating a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts.
