Baghdad: Iraq and Turkey have underscored the significance of thwarting the use of Syrian territory by terrorist organizations as a launchpad for their operations. This was articulated during discussions between Muhammad Hussein Bahr Al-Ulum, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations, and Brece Ekeji, the Turkish Foreign Minister.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that Bahr Al-Ulum met with Ekeji at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baghdad to advance the mutual interests of the Iraqi and Turkish peoples. The meeting’s focus was on enhancing collaboration to ensure regional stability and security.
The statement further revealed that discussions extended to the security dynamics in Lebanon, Syria, and Gaza. Both parties emphasized the necessity of aligning Iraq and Turkey’s positions on regional developments. They also discussed the importance of taking decisive measures to prevent terrorist organizations from exploiting Syrian territory as a base for their activities.
