Iraq: Iraq and Turkey have agreed to form a joint customs committee aimed at strengthening cooperation between the customs authorities of both countries and improving operational mechanisms at border crossings.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the agreement was reached during a meeting held in Ankara, chaired by the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Border Crossings, Customs, and Transport Affairs, Sami Abdul Hussein Radi, and Turkish Deputy Minister of Trade, Sezai U§armak.

The discussions focused on enhancing efficiency at border gates, facilitating trade flows, increasing the capacity of crossings, and supporting infrastructure projects related to bilateral trade and transit. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to raising the volume of trade exchange to $30 billion, boosting joint investments, and expanding areas of cooperation through the ‘Development Road’ project and the establishment of new customs outlets.
