Cairo: The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Cairo and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf, engaged in discussions with the Acting Head of the UNRWA Representative Office in Cairo, Roland Friedrich, focusing on regional and international issues and their impact on the region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Cairo issued a press release detailing the meeting. Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf received Roland Friedrich and his delegation, where Friedrich expressed gratitude towards Iraq and the Embassy. The discussions highlighted the challenges faced by UNRWA, particularly concerning financial funding and operational hurdles, exacerbated by Israeli authorities’ restrictions.

The statement further revealed that the ambassador reiterated Iraq’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause across international platforms, aiming to secure their legitimate rights and alleviate the hardships imposed by the Zionist occupation. Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf assured of Iraq’s continued backing of UNRWA’s mission as a UN-mandated agency, affirming Iraq’s commitment to supporting both the Palestinian people and the agency’s efforts.
