Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its welcome of the announcement of a peace agreement between the Republics of Armenia and Azerbaijan, voicing hope that the deal will help consolidate stability and strengthen security in the Caucasus region.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated that Iraq “hopes this agreement will have a positive impact on the two friendly peoples and enhance development opportunities in the region,” while commending the efforts made by the United States to facilitate the deal.

The ministry reaffirmed Iraq’s support for all initiatives aimed at resolving disputes through peaceful means, in a way that ensures respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, and promotes security and development at both the regional and international levels.
