Baghdad: The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday welcomed a decision by the foreign ministers of 11 countries to impose restrictions on trade in goods with the Zionist Entity.

According to Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated it “welcomes the decision by the foreign ministers of Canada, Finland, France, Iceland, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom to impose restrictions on trade in goods with the Zionist Entity.”

The ministry viewed the move as “a sound step towards supporting international efforts to deter the settlement policies of the occupying power, which constitute a flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions and a blatant assault on the rights of the Palestinian people.”

The statement further noted that the decision “represents a positive development towards reinforcing respect for the rules of international law and the principles of international legitimacy.”

The ministry expressed hope that other countries would take similar measures, contributing to an end to settlement activities and ensuring the Palestinian people their rights.
