Minister of Trade Athir Dawood Al-Ghariri discussed with the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport and Digital Development, Rashad Nabiyev, today, Wednesday, enhancing joint trade cooperation and finding new mechanisms for transporting goods and commodities directly.
A statement by the Ministry of Trade stated: “Al-Ghariri met with the Azerbaijani Minister of Transport and Digital Development, Rashad Nabiyev, in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku to discuss ways to enhance trade cooperation between the two countries, while finding new mechanisms for transporting goods and commodities directly, which facilitate the movement of trade and achieve mutual benefit for the economic sectors in both countries.”
The statement added that “the meeting also discussed the outcomes of the third session of the Iraqi-Azerbaijani Joint Committee, which was held in Baghdad last year, with a focus on following up on the implementation of the agreements reached in the fields of trade, transport and digital infrastructure to overcome obs
tacles facing joint projects and enhance bilateral economic relations.”
The statement continued, “The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Department of Foreign Economic Relations, the President of the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, and the Chargé d’Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Baku, in addition to a group of Iraqi businessmen.”
The statement pointed out that “Iraqi-Azerbaijani relations have witnessed remarkable development in the fields of trade, investment and energy through the joint committee between the two countries, where progress has been achieved in the fields of transportation and infrastructure development, which has enhanced trade exchange, in addition to seeking to expand the horizons of cooperation to include new strategic areas, which enhances their position as major trading partners in the region.” / End
