Baghdad: Iraq has initiated the process of receiving a group of Iraqi terrorists from Syria, as confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein. These individuals, identified as Iraqi citizens, have been transferred to Iraqi prisons.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Fuad Hussein’s confirmation came during a meeting with Jonathan Powell, the National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. During this meeting, the complexities of the political landscape in Syria were a significant topic of discussion, with particular emphasis on Iraq’s concerns regarding the activities of ISIS terrorist groups operating within Syrian borders.

The discussions between the two officials also covered the regional and international efforts needed to achieve peace and stability in Syria and the surrounding regions. Fuad Hussein shared insights from his recent meeting with the Syrian administration’s Foreign Minister, which took place on the sidelines of the Paris Conference to Support Syria.

Fuad Hussein highlighted the importance of an inclusive political process in Syria, advocating for the involvement of all components and spectrums of the Syrian population. He emphasized Iraq’s readiness to provide support and assistance to ensure the participation of all parties in fostering stability and preventing monopolization in decision-making.
