According to National Iraqi News Agency, in his speech before the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Rashid stated that Iraq has successfully regained its position in the international community and improved its relations with neighboring nations. He highlighted Iraq's commitment to a balanced foreign policy, promoting openness and dialogue to peacefully resolve conflicts. The President expressed Iraq's gratitude for the United Nations' support in defending its democratic system, particularly praising the organization's role in facilitating Iraq's electoral processes. He emphasized t he importance of ensuring upcoming elections are conducted freely, fairly, and transparently, with the cooperation of the judiciary. Rashid also outlined Iraq's ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of displaced persons and dismantle camps, underscoring the country's dedication to justice and social diversity. He further detailed Iraq's strategy to achieve sustainable economic and social development, reduce reliance on oil, and attract investment in sectors such as water, electricity, and infrastructure, while addressing the severe impacts of climate change. The President urged the international community to assist Iraq in overcoming challenges related to water resource management, as the country seeks understanding with Iran and Turkey regarding the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. In discussing regional conflicts, Rashid condemned the events in Gaza, criticizing the selective application of human rights and advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as a path to regional and glob al stability. He also condemned recent attacks by the Zionist entity, including those targeting Qatar.
