Iraq Concludes Discussion of Child Rights Reports in Geneva

Geneva: The Iraqi delegation, led by Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani, has completed the discussion of its fifth and sixth reports on the Convention on the Rights of the Child before the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child. This discussion is part of Iraq's commitment to the provisions of Article (44) of the Convention.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Minister Shawani highlighted that the dialogue sessions offered a crucial platform to assess both societal and governmental progress in implementing recommendations and to evaluate the current state of children's rights in Iraq. The sessions also helped identify significant challenges that the country faces in this domain.

Minister Shawani emphasized the importance of the feedback received from the Committee's Chairman and members, assuring that the Iraqi government intends to incorporate these observations into future legislation, policies, and national strategies concerning children's rights. He reiterated that the government is committed to implementing the concluding observations in collaboration with relevant authorities, underlining the significance of international cooperation in advancing children's rights.
