Iraq Emerges as Top Importer from Iran with Over $7 Billion in Trade

Tehran: The Iranian Ministry of Trade announced that Iraq ranked second among the largest importers from Iran during the past ten months. The ministry stated in its official statistics: “The value of Iranian exports to Iraq reached approximately $7.917 billion, representing 17.59% of Tehran’s total exports during the recent period.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iraq came directly after China on the list of Iran’s largest trading partners, ahead of the UAE, Turkey, and Afghanistan, reflecting the continued momentum in trade exchange between Baghdad and Tehran. The figures indicate that Iraq maintains its position as a key economic partner for Iran, given the diversity of goods exchanged between the two countries, particularly in the food, construction, and consumer goods sectors.

This ranking comes at a time when Iranian trade is witnessing a trend towards increasing non-oil exports and reducing imports, while Iraq continues to strengthen its position among the most prominent regional markets for Iranian products.
