Iraq Engages in Dialogue with Russia to Strengthen Security and Bilateral Relations


Baghdad: The Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of Iraq, Qasim al-Araji, engaged in discussions with the Russian Ambassador to Baghdad, Elbrus Kutrashev, focusing on the latest political and security developments impacting the region. The talks were centered on their implications for Iraq’s security and stability, alongside exploring avenues to enhance Iraqi-Russian relations through increased coordination and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, al-Araji highlighted during the meeting that Iraq is vigilantly monitoring both regional and international developments. He reiterated Iraq’s commitment to safeguarding its security and national interests, emphasizing the importance of consolidating stability. The approach advocated involves prioritizing dialogue and political solutions to address crises, in a manner that respects the sovereignty of states and prevents the escalation of tensions and conflicts in the region.



In response, the Russian Ambassador expressed his country’s dedication to maintaining cooperation with Iraq. He pledged support for Iraq’s security and stability and underscored the importance of developing bilateral relations that effectively serve the mutual interests of both nations.
