Iraq Enters New Era as International Coalition Forces Conclude Mission

Baghdad:Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi announced that Iraq is entering a new era following the conclusion of the international coalition forces’ mission against ISIS.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Zaidi, during his speech on Sovereignty Day, highlighted the transition of Iraq from a conflict zone to a nation in control of its own decisions and territorial integrity. He acknowledged the heavy toll on Iraqis due to years of conflict, noting the country’s transformation into an arena for external interests rather than a safe homeland.

Al-Zaidi paid homage to the martyrs and wounded, recognizing the contributions of the army, police, Counter-Terrorism Service, Popular Mobilization Forces, Peshmerga, and other security agencies. He expressed gratitude to the senior religious authority in Najaf for its role in defending Iraq and praised the national forces under his command.

He urged those who fought for the country to align with the state, emphasizing that their experience should bolster Iraq under a unified national doctrine. Al-Zaidi stressed the importance of organizing citizens’ capabilities within the law and Constitution, advocating for a single weapon under state control, free from foreign forces.

Addressing the Iraqi people, Al-Zaidi called for loyalty to sovereignty to protect resources and public funds. He assured that the government remains committed to overcoming challenges and enhancing state resources.

In closing, Al-Zaidi vowed not to receive a salary or allowances, emphasizing that public office is a responsibility. He concluded with a tribute to Iraq’s sovereignty and unity, honoring the will of its people and the memory of its martyrs.
