Baghdad: Iraq has successfully extradited two suspects involved in the notorious tax deposit theft case from Kuwaiti authorities.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Federal Integrity Commission announced the recovery of the managing director of a private trading and general contracting company and his agent, both accused of playing a significant role in the theft of tax deposits. The Commission highlighted that their involvement included receiving substantial sums of money to facilitate the disbursement of the stolen funds.
The extradition was the result of meticulous procedures carried out by the Commission, which involved organizing an extradition file and submitting it to the Public Prosecution Office. The Commission coordinated with several authorities, including the Arab and International Police Directorate at the Ministry of Interior, and benefited from the efforts of the Iraqi Embassy in Kuwait. An international red notice and a search order were issued, leading to the arrests in Kuwait, and the suspects were handed over to Iraq through diplomatic channels.
The Commission further noted that the Second Karkh Investigation Court had previously issued arrest warrants for the suspects under Article (11/444) of the Penal Code, following the examination of testimonies from other accused individuals and witnesses in the case.
