Iraq Is the Second Highest Importer From Iran Behind China During the Last Five Months

Baghdad Iraq occupied the second place among the most importing countries from Iran, behind China, during the last five months.

The head of the Iranian customs authority, Ali Reza Makdisi, announced an increase of 21 percent in terms of the value of Iranian exports during the first five months of this year, counting from March to last July.

Makdisi said, according to the “IRNA” agency, that the volume of Iranian exports during the same period amounted to 44 million tons, equivalent to 20 billion and 924 million dollars; The products included natural gas, liquefied propane, methanol, polyethylene, steel and iron alloys.

He added that the countries of China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and India constituted five main destinations for the country’s exports within five months.

The head of the Iranian customs department indicated that his country imported from the five countries in the same period, which included wheat, rice, mobile phones and crude oil.

As for the transit trade, Makdissi noted that 6 million tons of transit goods have been transported across the Iranian border during the past five months; This indicates a 25% increase compared to the same period last year.

On the other hand, the head of the Iranian Customs Authority stressed the expansion of the customs crossings and the provision of the necessary infrastructure, cadres and manpower in order to operate them to serve exports and enhance transportation operations in the country.
