Amman: Iraq’s participation in the 7th Arab Water Week conference was marked by the presence of Wissam Khalaf Obaid, Director General of the General Authority for Dams and Reservoirs and a member of the Supreme Committee of the Arab Water Utilities Association. Obaid represented the Minister of Water Resources at the conference held in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conference, titled “Efficiency and Sustainability in Utilities through the Water, Energy, and Environment Nexus,” attracted participation from several Arab irrigation ministers, Arab bodies, regional and international companies, academic experts, and specialists.
During the conference, Iraq’s representative engaged in discussions with the Jordanian and Egyptian Ministers of Water Resources and Irrigation. Invitations were extended to these ministers for the Fifth Baghdad International Water Conference, aiming to bolster Iraq’s stance on asserting water rights from upstream countries. This effort is being conducted under the guidance of the United Nations.
