Baghdad: The Government Communication Team announced on Monday the launch of the Third Iraq International Oil and Gas Exhibition, highlighting that this year’s edition introduces, for the first time, an integration of fossil and solar energy.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Deputy Head of the team, Adnan Al-Arabi, stated that the exhibition was inaugurated under the patronage and guidance of Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani. He noted that the initiative ‘reflects a promising future for solar energy use, in line with the Government Communication Team’s slogan: From the Earth’s Core to the Earth’s Future.’
Al-Arabi added that the government, through the national team at the Prime Minister’s Office, has begun installing solar power systems in government buildings, including schools and health centers, while specialized companies have started implementing large-capacity systems. He revealed that a new project in Karbala will soon be launched to supply the national grid with renewable energy.
He further pointed out that local companies have started manufacturing solar energy systems, emphasizing that government support continues through the Central Bank’s initiative to facilitate installment-based sales. He also noted that the Prime Minister has directed the distribution of 2,500 solar energy units to underprivileged families.
Al-Arabi concluded by stressing that ‘renewable energy must take its rightful place in Iraq, contributing to diversifying energy sources and supporting sustainable development.’
