Iraq Placed in Pot 2 for 2025 Arab Cup Draw

Doha: The Iraqi national team was placed in Pot 2 in the 2025 Arab Cup draw, which is set to take place the day after tomorrow, Sunday. This announcement comes as FIFA released the rankings of the teams that will participate in the tournament, scheduled to be held in Qatar next December. According to National Iraqi News Agency, the 2025 Arab Cup will feature 16 Arab teams, including nine that have qualified directly for the finals based on the FIFA rankings for April. Additionally, 14 teams will compete in qualifying matches to determine seven more teams that will join the tournament in Qatar. The draw on May 25 in Doha will determine the tournament's groups, with the rankings serving as an important factor in assessing the competition's strength. The team rankings for the 2025 Arab Cup are divided into four pots. Pot 1 includes Qatar, Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria. Pot 2 consists of Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Jordan. Tier 3 includes the UAE and three teams that will qualify from matches between Oman vs . Somalia, Bahrain vs. Djibouti, and Syria vs. South Sudan. Tier 4 will be filled by teams qualifying from matches between Palestine vs. Libya, Lebanon vs. Sudan, Kuwait vs. Mauritania, and Yemen vs. Comoros. The 2025 Arab Cup will take place in Qatar from December 1 to 18, with the eagerly awaited draw scheduled for May 25 in Doha, setting the stage for an exciting competition among the Arab nations.
