Washington: Iraq has emerged as the second-largest Arab exporter of oil to the United States, according to recent data released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). Iraq’s oil exports to the U.S. totaled approximately 8 million barrels in August, marking a slight decrease from July’s figures.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the EIA reported that Iraq exported 7.936 million barrels of crude oil to the U.S. in August, down from 8.370 million barrels in July. The administration detailed that Iraq’s average crude oil exports to the U.S. varied significantly throughout August, with daily exports of 328,000 barrels in the first week, 162,000 barrels in the second week, 302,000 barrels in the third week, and 231,000 barrels in the fourth week.

The EIA further clarified Iraq’s position as the fifth-largest exporter of oil to the U.S. last month. Canada maintained its position as the largest oil exporter to the U.S., followed by Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Brazil. Within the Arab countries, Iraq ranked second, with Saudi Arabia leading at 9.362 million barrels of exports, and Libya trailing with 3.534 million barrels.
