Baghdad: Iraq ranked second among the largest Arab crude oil exporters during May, despite a noticeable decline in its export figures compared to the previous month.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Saudi Arabia topped the list of the five largest Arab countries exporting seaborne crude oil in May, with a monthly increase in export volumes by about 266,000 barrels per day. Iraq followed with an average seaborne crude oil export rate of approximately 3.27 million barrels per day. This marked a decrease of 32,000 barrels per day from April’s figure of about 3.3 million barrels per day.

Reports indicated that Iraqi government sources have mentioned the country’s target to limit exports to less than 3.2 million barrels per day during May and June 2025. This target aligns with compliance efforts related to Iraq’s production quota under the OPEC+ agreements.

On an annual comparison, Iraq’s oil exports showed a decline of 294,000 barrels per day compared to May of the previous year, which averaged 3.56 million barrels per day.

The top five Arab countries exporting seaborne crude oil in May 2025 were Saudi Arabia with 6.02 million barrels per day, Iraq with 3.27 million barrels per day, UAE with 3.02 million barrels per day, Kuwait with 1.37 million barrels per day, and Libya with 1.19 million barrels per day.
