Washington: Iraq was the third largest supplier of crude oil to the United States last week, as announced by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on Sunday.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the EIA’s statistics revealed that the average U.S. crude oil imports from nine major countries reached 5.643 million barrels per day (bpd) last week. This marks an increase of 735,000 bpd compared to the previous week, which recorded 4.908 million bpd.
The report highlighted that Iraq’s oil exports to the U.S. averaged 325,000 bpd, showing a significant rise of 242,000 bpd from the previous week, which recorded 83,000 bpd. This placed Iraq third among the top oil exporters to the U.S. last week.
The EIA noted that the largest oil imports to the U.S. last week were from Canada, followed by Saudi Arabia, with Mexico and Brazil also contributing significant amounts. The data also showed continued U.S. crude oil imports from Nigeria, Venezuela, Libya, and Colombia, while no imports were recorded from Ecuador last week.
