Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein reaffirmed on Wednesday Iraq’s commitment to supporting dialogue and understanding as the optimal means to enhance security and stability at both the regional and international levels. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Hussein received Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Saeed Khatibzadeh, in Baghdad, where they discussed the course of bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them in line with common interests. The discussions also reviewed the latest regional and international developments.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Khatibzadeh outlined the current situation in Iran amid the Israeli aggression and its impact on the country’s political, social, and security dynamics. He noted that these circumstances have reshaped Tehran’s security, military, and political approaches at both domestic and foreign policy levels.

The talks also covered the outcomes of the Iranian-European negotiations and the ongoing dialogue with the E3 countries (Britain, France, and Germany), as well as discussions at the UN Security Council, particularly focusing on the roles of China and Russia in issues related to Iran.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Minister Hussein emphasized Iraq’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at fostering dialogue and consolidating stability in the region and the world.
