Iraq Receives Leadership Award for ICT Development Efforts


Dubai: The CEO of the Communications and Media Commission, Ali Al-Moayyad, was honored with the Leadership Award for Developing the Roadmap for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) in Iraq by the international organization “SAMENA.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the award was presented during a ceremony in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, recognizing Al-Moayyad’s significant contributions to the ICT sector in Iraq. His efforts in leading digital transformation projects and promoting innovation and leadership in communications and information technology have been pivotal in advancing sustainable development and boosting the digital economy within the country.

The SAMENA Communications Organization, a regional industrial alliance representing ICT companies across South Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa, aims to foster cooperation among its members and governments. The organization focuses on developing robust communications infrastructure and supporting innovation in ICT, playing a cru
cial role in shaping policies and strategies that enhance digital transformation in the region.

This recognition marks the second international accolade for Al-Moayyad, who previously received the 2023 Leadership Award in “Digital Inclusion” at the Leadership and Excellence Awards ceremony also held in the United Arab Emirates. The Communications and Media Commission under his leadership has taken significant steps towards digital transformation, notably advancing the completion of a white paper that outlines the development strategy for ICT in Iraq.
