Baghdad: Iraq has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing third place globally in the Computing Track at the finals of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025-2026, held in Shenzhen, China. The competition witnessed participation from elite university students worldwide.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced that Iraq’s national team, consisting of three students from distinguished Iraqi universities, represented the country in this prestigious international event. This year’s competition saw over 220,000 students and academics from more than 2,000 educational institutions across 100 countries, marking it as the largest participation in the competition’s history. A total of 177 teams from 49 countries made it to the global finals in China.
It is noteworthy that since the signing of the memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Huawei Technologies in 2024, 13 Huawei Academy centers have been established. The Huawei ICT Competition is recognized as one of the leading global initiatives focused on nurturing technical talent and preparing future leaders by offering a platform for competition, experience exchange, and skill enhancement in computing, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity.
