WASHINGTON: Iraq’s oil exports to the United States saw a notable increase last week, according to recent data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA).
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the EIA highlighted in its latest report that the average US imports of crude oil from 10 major countries decreased overall to 5.305 million barrels per day, down by 439 thousand barrels per day from the previous week’s total of 5.744 million barrels per day. Despite this general decline, Iraq’s oil exports to America rose significantly, reaching 241 thousand barrels per day last week-an increase of 89 thousand barrels from the 152 thousand barrels per day recorded the previous week.
The EIA report also detailed that the largest oil imports to America last week came from Canada, amounting to 3.499 million barrels per day. Other major contributors included Mexico, Venezuela, and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, the US continued to import crude oil from Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Nigeria, and Libya.
This uptick in
oil exports from Iraq to the US comes amid various global market dynamics and showcases the shifting patterns of international oil trade.
