Baghdad: Iraq’s Prime Minister’s office has announced that Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has instructed the commander-in-chief of the armed forces to investigate reports of drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory against Saudi Arabia.

According to Deutsche Welle, the Iraqi government emphasized its commitment to maintaining good relations with neighboring countries and preventing its land from being used for hostile activities. The statement highlighted Iraq’s dedication to its constitutional principles and confirmed that the government is reviewing available evidence to take legal action against those responsible for such attacks.

Iraq is home to several Shia militia groups that are either backed by or affiliated with Iran. Among these, Kataib Hezbollah is recognized as one of the most influential. Iraq and Saudi Arabia share a lengthy border exceeding 800 kilometers through the Arabian desert, with Iraq’s small coastline on the Persian Gulf located just north of Saudi Arabia’s eastern coast.
