Baghdad: The Ministry of Transport has outlined its most important new investment opportunities, which are expected to generate significant national revenues for Iraq. Minister of Transport Razzaq Al-Saadawi emphasized during a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the ministry presented several promising investment opportunities at the Iraq Investment Forum. This forum serves as a crucial platform for showcasing investment prospects to both Arab and foreign investors. Key projects highlighted include the Strategic Development Road Project and the Grand Faw Port, which have garnered substantial international support alongside direct local backing from the Prime Minister.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Strategic Development Road Project aims to diversify Iraq's economy by reducing reliance on oil and gas while fostering regional and international economic integration. The project is anticipated to create 1.5 million jobs and achieve 70% self-sufficiency in food, water, and energy through sustainable green initiatives.
Minister Al-Saadawi also shared the government's vision of positioning Iraq as a gateway for 20% of Asia's trade to Europe through the Faw Port project and the development road. He described the development road as an economic artery that spans continents, featuring a network of highways and railways extending over 1,160 kilometers. This network begins at the Grand Faw Port and reaches the Fishkhabur crossing on the Turkish border, passing through 12 major cities and serving more than 27 million citizens.
