Iraq Warns of Regional Conflict Escalation if Drawn into War

Baghdad: The Foreign Minister of Iraq, Fuad Hussein, has issued a stark warning to his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani, about the potential dangers of involving Iraq in regional conflicts. During a telephone conversation, Hussein highlighted the risk of the conflict expanding beyond Iraq's borders, potentially drawing in other countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the discussion between the two ministers focused on recent developments in the region and their impact on security and stability. The Italian Foreign Minister expressed his country's support for Iraq, affirming solidarity against threats targeting Iraq's security and stability.

Minister Fuad Hussein also brought attention to a recent attempted attack on an Italian military unit based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, condemning the act and underlining the risks of drawing Iraq into the arena of war. He noted that such actions could lead to an expanded conflict involving more countries in the region.

The conversation also covered the ongoing war and its global economic repercussions, with particular concern for European economies. The Foreign Minister warned that any disruption in the oil flow through the Strait of Hormuz could trigger a significant energy crisis. He stressed that impeding Iraq's oil export capabilities could result in numerous economic crises.

Both ministers concluded the call by emphasizing the importance of strengthening Iraqi-Italian relations, aiming to enhance cooperation that benefits both nations' interests.
