Baghdad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the comprehensive ceasefire agreement reached between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which stipulates the integration of the self-administration institutions into the Syrian state institutions, thereby strengthening stability and supporting the political solution process in Syria.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry affirmed that “the agreement represents a positive step reflecting the importance of dialogue and understanding among all Syrian parties, ensuring the preservation of the rights of all components of society and their equitable participation in state institutions based on citizenship and peaceful coexistence.”
The Ministry also commended “the Syrian parties’ response to the efforts exerted by Iraqi leaders, which contributed to creating the appropriate conditions for reaching the agreement,” emphasizing Iraq’s supportive role in the security and stability of the region and its commitment to political solutions that spare people the ravages of conflict.
The Republic of Iraq reiterated its firm stance in support of Syria’s unity and independence, and its solidarity with the Syrian people in their aspirations for security, stability, and lasting peace.
