Iraqi Airways to Resume Flights to Most Sectors Gradually

Baghdad: Iraqi Airways has announced the resumption of its regular flight schedule to various destinations served by the national carrier through Baghdad and Basra International Airports, starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 25, 2025. This decision follows the successful completion of the air evacuation plan.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Transport’s media office released a statement indicating that the resumption comes after the elimination of security threats to aviation and the stabilization of the atmosphere. Prior to this, approximately 90 flights were conducted from Basra International Airport to several countries, successfully repatriating over 24,900 Iraqi passengers stranded abroad due to regional emergency conditions. These operations were carried out efficiently and within safe air corridors, in coordination with the Civil Aviation Authority, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other relevant authorities.

The statement further detailed that the resumption of flights will
be gradual, following an escalating schedule that will soon cover most of the sectors served by Iraqi Airways, utilizing other local airports as well. This move aims to meet the needs of Iraqi travelers and support tourism and commercial activity.
