Ankara: The Iraqi ambassador to Turkey, Majid Al-Lajmawi, met with Abbas Muqib Shami, Director General of the Recovery Department at the Federal Integrity Commission, to discuss strategies for recovering assets and pursuing wanted individuals.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on enhancing coordination between the Iraqi Embassy in Ankara and the Integrity Commission to facilitate the recovery of public funds and the exchange of information regarding fugitives residing in Turkey. Ambassador Al-Lajmawi emphasized the embassy's commitment to supporting the Integrity Commission and the Iraq Asset Recovery Fund through its legal department, aiming to protect national interests and public funds.

Shami expressed appreciation for the Iraqi Embassy's ongoing cooperation, highlighting the Integrity Commission's dedication to reinforcing collaboration to efficiently manage asset recovery and extradition matters within legal and diplomatic frameworks. He also shared insights from his discussions with Turkish counterparts, accompanied by representatives from the Iraqi Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Justice. These talks were centered on executing mutual legal assistance requests for seizing movable and immovable assets of convicts and recovering fugitives in Turkey, with the embassy playing a pivotal role in the success of these initiatives.
