Baghdad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein discussed with Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Hussein Omar the evolving situation in the region amid the military escalation resulting from the ongoing war, and its repercussions on the security and stability of the region’s countries.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release: “Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, in a telephone call with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein, expressed his country’s full solidarity with Iraq, its leadership and people, affirming Djibouti’s support for all efforts exerted by Iraq to maintain its security and stability and preserve its sovereignty.”

He also condemned the attacks targeting Iraq and its people, regardless of the perpetrator, stressing the necessity of respecting Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and not jeopardizing its security and stability in any way.

According to the statement, the two sides discussed the dangers of the continued war that began with the aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the potentially serious repercussions for the region’s security and stability.

The two ministers also warned of the dangers of the conflict widening and its regional and international repercussions worsening, stressing the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and joint action to reach a ceasefire and contain the escalation in a way that contributes to restoring calm and stability to the region.
